In its day it was the most successful rally car and the most successful touring car. I just love this car.
First the mini was designed by Alec issigonis and co owned by Morris and Austin brilliant little car
Originally it was sold by Austin. But at the time Austin was under ownership by British Leyland. Austin produced the Mini models up until the late 80’s early 90’s, before they went defunct and the license moved to Rover. Rover kept churning out the original design Mini until 2000/2001 before the rights were sold to BMW. The under Rover’s ownership it finally got fuel injection in 1995 with the arrival of the SPi 1.3 unit from the Rover Metro. Multipoint fuel injection arrived in 1997 and the last 500 models produced (Rover Mini Cooper Sport 500’s to give them their full name) got a 5 speed gearbox. And that’s just what I know off the top of my head. Love minis and constantly regret not buying one when I could have.
