Although I loved and enjoyed my '87 Samurai, it was terribly underpowered for traversing Houston's fast-moving freeways. Seeing a row of the new-for-1993 Ford Rangers lined up at a nearby dealership, I stopped to look. Among the array sat a black regular cab, well-optioned in the Splash trim with 2WD and a 4.0 liter V6. It had a dark red interior unlike the gray in this example. It beckoned and I answered its call.
