  • Great article. The thing is, though, I'm not sure what we're looking at with the new Commodore is a German saloon. True, it's technically an Opel, and built in Germany, but by GM. It's their ethos in the recipe, and we know what their ethos is.

    I despise the fact that they don't care about brand identity. The new Commodore is not really a Holden, nor is the Buick Regal really a Buick, not even externally - they're merely given a different badge. At least, the locally built Commodore was actually a genuine Holden; the whole VE/VF development was a ground-up Australian operation. For that, it belongs up there with the Torana and the FX.

    The Epica and Vectra don't.
