Unpopular Carpinions

  • What did you expect from a Yugo that dissapointed you badly?

It was pretty much as good as a 3,990 car can be. The next cheapest thing in 1987 was 25% more expensive, the Excel, which was a better car, for sure, but not much of a car either. Anything normal, like Honda, basic Fords and sh*t were a 50-70% more expensive in basic trims.

Adjusted for inflation, USD 3,990 is today's USD 9,800 - I don't think there's a car that meets US standards for that kind of purchasing power.

Even Sandero is more expensive than that today.

  • I'd say the Malaise era cars. A lot of heavy brand names killed by lousy quality and poor performance. Everyone expected more.

  • DeLorean and Yugo are both cool cars, but yes they were crap.
