  • Yeah there is a lot of truth in the article and a little of the rose tinted glasses, the comments are good/funny too, motorcycling seems to represent itself as friend, and sometimes people find themselves in Love with that friend, telling the world about the good friend they have found ,how they fell out of their mother strait onto a motorcycle and nobody knows more about motorcycling because" Ive been there from the start man ". But biking can be everyone's friend ,the guy that spends his Thursday evening in the shed at the bottom of the garden trying to sort out that sump plug the previous owner went and cross threaded ,the 50 year old woman taking her 02 Honda vtr on a track day one Sunday per month, the gang of lads from Liverpool that spent a week in the west of Ireland doing the wild Atlantic way,the 17 year old that had his first go on his mates 125 and unknown to himself has begun a life long addiction,i could go on for ever but guessing I'm trying to suggest biking is many things to many people and like a life long friend it can press the wrong buttons and kick you in the ball bag some times, but 90% of the time we will find ourselves changing the oil and getting back in the saddle .ITS ALL GOOD

  • I have been riding bikes since 1969 when I was in year 10, high school, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. I surfed as most did in my area but once I got my first bike it was game over. Now 49 years later and retired I am now into restoring bikes and still loving the experience. I have a classic car but I prefer my bikes. They get into your life and I am all the richer for it.

  • Great post. For long winded reasons we have needed to holiday across Europe by car so I bought an MX5 to get as close to the many years of happy biking as possible. Non bikers will never understand the difference a bike makes. Wait for ferry on bike and other bikers swap stories. In the car other drivers wind up the windows to keep to themselves. Park the bike 2000 miles from home and the locals chat. Park the car and you are completely ignored. Not only fun getting there by bike but in most countries just stop the bike where you want to go. No driving around looking for parking.

  • I have the privilege of both means of transport and the car, is just that - a means of transport whereas the bike is always and adventure .
