Not England per day, just too many idiots that are politicians that have sh/t in their heads… that the tories for you, all the do is steal and look after themselves at taxpayer expenses
'Foreseeable?' No. The distant future, almost certainly. Our means of transport has altered over the centuries. For example, we don't drag a few planks loaded with stuff behind a horse anymore. Even if we wanted to, we'd at least put some wheels on it! We no longer use horses to get us around every day. We no longer buy sidecar outfits as our everyday choice of transport. We don't travel the world on tall-ships (sail powered) as a rule. Aeroplanes no longer use propellors for mass transit. We just follow the path of least resistance which also allows us those qualities we desire. To believe we'll all want to share the same tin box to get around the place in is to miss the point. Like busses, that's the only choice for many, not because they like to. A taxi is by far a more desirable option if you have the means. Private car ownership is actually exactly the same as having a car you do not own. It's the car at your disposal, a car you can abandon your bits and bobs in, that is the common factor. Car sharing, robo-taxies, and such like, will still be better than a bus or train as far as pleasantness of method goes, but having your own little room, within which you have extended your home environment as your means of transport, will remain favourite until transporter-beams become a thing.

Oh God, imagine a world only filled with dull buses.

Just like anything any government does, they haven't thought things through
