  • We reached peak about 15 years ago almost across the board. Now most cars are over complicated, too techy and boring.

  • I think we peaked in the late 2000s and 2010s. Great style for a lot of cars. The same speeds and comfort as today but less technology. There was some for ease of use but it wasn’t like driving a washing machine. It was the best of all worlds. Speed, comfort, style and just the right amount of technology

  • Mid 2000s was peak for the more "modern" era. The affordable sports car is gone, and everything is soulless and bland. Not that I can't embrace change its just nothing excites. Just like a new tik tok trend, car designs are outdated tomorrow.

I love all the crazy cars that were made in the 2000s, want a A6 with a V10? Want a Q7 with a V12? We got you covered. Sadly these days are gone. Dealerships and exe utives don't help either. I was wanting to buy a Challenger T/A a couple years ago. Spec it how I was wanting, yellow with a manual. The salesman of course wanted to get the quick deal and was saying it's gonna be difficult to sell if I ever get tired of it. But if you look into classifieds the manual, rare color specs are most desired.

I often wonder what I want to buy as a next daily driver but nothing comes to mind that I would really want right now.

    • Definitely! The industry seems to have lost its was a bit. I’ve got to replace my Audi with a new daily soon when the contract runs out. And I can’t find anything I like.

    • That's going to be a challenge. Sure there are some nice cars out there but none have the wow factor. I also think that all these intermitten models made the high end ones not as special anymore. If a diesel E class has an AMG appearance then the...

    • I’m going to really miss V8s. Too much technology in these new cars. Rivian R1T? No, buy a Land Cruiser. Some new electric Merc? No! Very soon cars are going to be EXACTLY the same: 500 mile range, shed-tonnes of useless tech, be boring and...

    • Thank you. Nice points. Everything will just end up the same. It’s like mobile phones. There’re all practically the same. And always will be.

  • I agree. I reckon the industry probably peaked in the 1990s actually. When safety became a major concern (which was of course a very important thing), the cars started to become a bit watered down. They were still excellent up until sometime between 2010 and 2015, when the technology and stricter emissions rules became too much

    • Definitely! And what gets me is the added size and weight. If you look at it, humans haven’t evolved in size at the same rate cars have. It’s bonkers. Especially between the original issigonis Mini, and the Mini of today (which is regarded as...

    • Absolutely. Another thing with size is the tendency to buy a larger car too (maybe 10 years ago, my work was selling mostly Clios and Meganes, now it’s more Capturs and Kadjars)
