  • It’s definitely a tricky one. By the way there is always a driver steward, that is to say on every race one of the stewards is always an ex f1 racing driver. Maybe one punishment they could give is to disable a car’s drs for a few laps.

    • Good point. I'd go even as far as to disable the electric power for one lap. Harsh, but it will make drivers think twice before committing an offence.

  • The sport really does make a rod for its own back doesn't it . All of the talking points from Sunday have been from issues that imo shouldn't be there in the first place . There should never be a situation where a driver has to give a place back because they gained an advantage for by going off , the track by definition should be the fastest way to complete a circuit. Put grass/gravel/kerbs/techpro barriers in the way and that instantly takes away controversial penalties. If they still want huge expanses of tarmac then how about having a bollard on the inside apex , if you go the wrong side of it your lap doesn't count as you haven't completed the circuit, I'm sure that would stop drivers going so far into a corner them deciding just to abandon it and straight line it.

As for Lewis tripping up over max because he didn't want to overtake him before the drs detection zone , again this shouldn't even be a thing, drs is an artificial thing that doesn't belong in F1 , there should be an imaginary line that drivers don't want to overtake before as it would put them at a disadvantage.

    • Good point all around. Maybe DRS will become a thing of the past, if the new cars can really follow easily. The way it was in the good old days.

    • Agree about the artificial drs, likewise max brake like that try to use the same zone to easily retake the lead quite unprofessional for both drivers

  • Vencolini, this is an excellent article. I'm watching my first year of F1 and most of the rules seem dumb to me, but this past weekends race was frustrating to watch. The "fight" between Max and Lewis has intensified, when Max had to give up his place to Lewis and then immediately took it back, I thought that was brilliant racing. I know it is getting chippie on track, but we have two fierce competitors going at it, and it seems to me the stewards got in the way and gave Hamilton the victory on Sunday. It seems to me they are biased towards Lewis giving him every advantage to win his record breaking 8th championship. Max, in my opinion, is racing at a disadvantage.
