Great article about stunning area, not just a road! Franklin River is sooo beautiful too and was nearly "loved to death" by huge numbers of local and overseas visitors wanting to take an "environmental" cruise along the river, which included walks through rain forest and cause erosion. Yes, our family is guilty as well! I think cruises as very much limited now. Interestingly, "moonscape" Queenstown is only 40 minutes drive from there.

Love this piece! It's also arguable Tasmania is the best dead end in Australia, possibly the world.
The biggest advantage of a dead end road like this is that chicken hen pullers don't use them
