  • I know that everybody has his own opinion but I really disagree with most of the list... I don't want to offense the author but it looks more like sh*ttalking about famous cars for clickbait purpose than a real article...

The best example is the MX5 ! If you drove one hard on track, you'll know that this car has a great balance and handling and is really fun to drive ! It may not be as fast as an Elise but it's almost as fun and challenging to drive ! (I'm driving both on track frequently). Saying that you have to buy an Elise instead of a MX5 is completely stupid if you like sportcars... Of course the Elise is better since it's 4 times more expensive but it doesn't mean that the MX5 is a bad car ! It's a really good CHEAP sportcar ! It's like saying that if you like sportcars, you have to buy a 720S instead of an Elise, of course the 720S is better but the Elise is still a great car, just cheaper...

You're talking about the F50 engine like it's sh*t because it isn't a real F1 engine... Of course they won't put an engine designed to run for a couple of races in a roadcar designed to drive thousands miles ! But it's still an insane NA V12 in a lightweight analogic supercar with an incredible chassis and dynamics !

Then you're complaining about cars such as the RS200 or the Catheram which are to harsh to drive to get your groceries... They are designed to race ! It's like complaining that you're smartphone can't toast your bread... Take one to a dirt stage and the other to the racetrack and they will be the best things and it's still an incredible occasion to go for a ride on the weekend on public road since they are really exceptional ! And you know when you buy them that you won't take them to the supermarket !

Then you are complaining about the GTR but you're stuck to your seat whenever you put your foot down, the grip is never-ending and it's one of the most capable cars around the track ! I drove one once and it's still one of my best memories ! And you can use it everyday ! So of course it won't be as much as an occasion to drive as a Lotus that you drive only on the week-end when it's sunny !

And then you're complaining about cars which are almost 50 years old and they don't drive as well as a modern supercar... It's like complaining about turbo lag for cars that pioneered this technology...

And finally, you're complaining about the F1 which is hard to drive... It's a racecar for the road, not a Twingo ! And "if you make a mistake, the car will bite" Then the problem is you, not the car !

Some are truly bad like the DeLorean but I think that most of the article is just clickbait ! Complaining about things that cars do badly when they aren't even built to do these things or complaining that old cars are old... How surprising it is ?

    • Hi Alex. No offence taken - but I must address your comment.

I can honestly say that my only intention when writing this article was to produce a blog which depicts what I deem to be the top 15 never-meet-your-heroes cars; the idea of...

    • First, I'd like to point out that english isn't my first language so I read this article 3 times to be sure that I understood everything and not "glossed over" it.

Concerning the MX5, I think that we won't be able to settle on this one. I really...

  • Brilliant. I was wondering, "Definitely, but where's the Countach in this"... and then there it was. About the Aston Martin DB5 though - I don't care.

    • Agreed. You can call me whatever you like but chances are if I'm in a DB5 I really don't care what you have to say anyways.

  • Yep and so what. If I was able to procure a Countach for my very own, even cursing its difficulties down the road, I would have a smile ear to ear. In the event I'm not a good bull whisperer, I would have it as furniture in my living room. I would probably do that last bit either way actually.

    • Reminds me of something Jeremy Clarkson once said in an interview about plinthing your ride. I feel the Countach would be the ideal candidate.

    • I was not aware of that comment, I'll have to look it up. It certainly would be THE conversation piece in any home!

  • The Delorean was such a let down, it could have been awesome, but the underpowered engine, insanely heavy bodywork, and the fact that john Delorean himself was a drug addict kind of ruin the whole thing

  • I have endlessly heard of the horrors of Countach driving. But that wants me to drive it even more. Heavy means manly + Countach looks and it is still a hero. That car is simply worth the pain and suffering.
