While it doesn't have the panache of a Hemi or any other sort of V8, at least it's not a 4 cylinder engine. I have looked at base model Camaros and Mustangs (only because of the availability of a manual transmission), but I just can't bring myself to buy one with a 4 banger. It's just not right.
Hopefully Dodge will see fit to offer this inline 6 with a stick-shift as well as an auto. I'd certainly be interested.
So, we have two more years to buy a vaunted Challenger before it becomes another toaster.
I know that the Challenger and Wrangler share the current 3.6 engine, but I always found it a bit of a shame that only the Jeep came with the manual tranny as a choice.
Yeah, I think they should offer something along the lines of that as well for the time being. Adding this new engine indicates that they may not be discontinuing the Challenger as soon as they had anticipated.

It is possible for sure. Dodge hasn't played around much with the Tremec transmission. I'm sure this could be an ample opportunity.
Let's hope so!

They should keep the V8 as an option with the inline 6 just like the old days

They can’t. If they do discontinue the Challenger they know customers will walk right over to Ford.
I do like I6s, but this still feels wrong.
Not as bad as an EV but not great, I hate Stellantis
That’s going to be really neat hopefully the straight six will be just as robust as the Hellcat
Hopefully!
