Well, I'm going to throw a curveball into the discussion. What about cars that go faster than the speedo indicates? Cars from the 80's and 90's had this issue. I've heard many stories of people burying the speedo and going way faster than indicated. I've done it also. 85mph max on the speedo. Tell that to the LIDAR that picked up 125! (Not me).
On the other hand, manufacturers in N. America had about a 10 year period where they were not allowed to have speedometers that went above 85mph (140km/h). That too, was incredibly annoying. Truth be told, I'd rather have a woefully optimistic speedo than one that is limited.
Back in the 70s/80s, speedometers in the US were only allowed to go to 85 mph, and had to have 55 mph (the federally-imposed speed limit) clearly marked. Some cars, like the Mustang SVO, had 140 mph speedometers that just didn't have any numbers beyond 80 (the needle and the tick marks kept goinh, but the numbers stopped). And the Chryslers from the era with digital speedometers would just sit there flashing "85" if you went faster than that (and yes it was possible). I'd rather have one that's optimistic than go back to that silliness.

Oh just Incase you can't comprehend kilometers per hour here is a conversion
500km/hr-312.5mph
350km/hr-218mph
270km/hr-168.75mph
240km/hr-150mph
150km/hr-93.75mph
You're not the hero we deserve, but you are the hero we need.
Lol thanks
