It's design choices like this me convinced that Tesla's true mission as a company isn't to make EVs, but rather to create solutions for problems that don't exist.
Sure it's bearable, but not at all convenient compared to a normal circular wheel. If this was an F1 car with 0.75 turns lock to lock it'd be great, but it's in a gimmicky plasticky family car with worse build quality than a Sondico football. It's Musk trying to be different and trendy again, and he's ended up looking like an idiot.

We can’t have pop up headlights because they tend to disembowel pedestrians.
Yet we can have SUVs that absolutely pummel pedestrians and we have steering yokes that are about as ergonomic as a straight-jacket.
It’s not “a wheel” to start with. It’s fine on a race car when you’ve got less than one turn lock-to-lock, but on a road car it’s stupid.
