I agree. My car decisions got me here. Sold cars included 63 split window corvette, xke and several 356 Porsches and 4 other 911s. I got to drive some fun cars.
Selling my Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special. Owned it for 12 years, never once let me down although it didn't get the TLC it deserved. Took me and my wife on our first date, carried both my newborn sons home from the maternity hospital and was a companion on many holidays. Some sneer at the Capri but I loved it, just quick enough, comfortable enough and practical enough. Some cars just have a special place in our hearts, the old Capri was one of them for me.
I had a 1974 Capri as a company car when I worked in Slough, England. It more than exceeded my expectations; it had quick steering, great brakes and a firm suspension. It drove like a real sports car. I drove it all over the UK. A great Ford...
Some years ago I was offered and very nearly bought a Triumph TR6, British racing Green, overdrive and it came with a hard top - for reasons I still can't put my finger on, something didn't feel right (despite my mechanic mate saying it was a sound car and worth the money) so I walked away - periodically kick myself over that..
Some years ago I was bidding at the auction. It was Tatra 603 non-running project. When bidding reached AUD$5,500, I thought it would be too much and pulled out. It was sold for AUD$6,000. I'm still kicking myself!!!

My old man had one and was one of his all time favourites
