While driving home from work one night, I got caught going over 100 mph on the Dan Ryan expressway by a Chicago cop. I thought I was going to lose my license, my car, and my job because of reckless driving. As the cop cussed me out he said, "I had to go over 100 to catch you!" While out of my mouth was a bunch of apologizing, in my head I thought "Cool." After he cussed me out, he got into his car and drove off. I drove the speed limit the rest of the way home.

Please don't quote Brake. If they had their way we'd all be driving around at 5 mph with a man with a red flag in front.
He didn't get away with it really, he did get a ban. I know of colleagues that have had this happen as well for 115 on the M11. In their case it was late at night with no one else on the road. Whilst that's not an endorsement of his behaviour there are times when driving at that speed is less dangerous. It's good to see that the courts are still able to use their discretion.
