Good read, brings back a few memories - though have to say I prefer Yorkshire (obvs) - when you get out again take a run up to Skipton (pretty much great roads in most directions) but look for the B6265, it will take you up passed Cracoe and Grassington (bit too commercial for my tastes but still nice) and into Kettlewell (I used to stop at the Racehorses for a good drink and bite to eat) then continue on up and over the top to Hawes. As with the Peak District you have to chose your times to do this drive (not in the summer - too much traffic) but I think you'll enjoy..
