Thanks - if you have a Zero dealer in your area I really recommend trying one out. Just for a taste of what the future is going to be like, they are so damn fast!
Will do! I'm super excited for what's to come. With Harley buying into Alta, Polaris picking up Brammo and KTM with the Freeride it's only a matter of time before electric bikes are "normal".
That 0-60 time seems to be on the slow side for the technology - not that it's slow, it's faster than I'll ever be on a bike, but with electric cars having silly accelerations 3.5" is a bit curious.. A standard 150kg (or heavier) 600cc supersport can do that, I was expecting something closer to 2" from an electric 120kg machine.
It’s electronically restricted as the high front end means it’d just flip over backwards otherwise. If you weighted the front down with dumbbells and hacked the ecu to give it full juice it’d tear the tyre apart and go well below 3 seconds
Great stuff Shaun. I really want to see an electric bike that can be used for a bit of fun and used as a day to day commuter bike. It seems close to being a bike that will do most of that. Yes the range needs to improve and the price needs to come down. Over time both will happen, just for now it would need to have a second bike to tour or have a full day out ride and that's the real problem for now it cannot do it all.
The limitations are with li-ion technology. Just how much further can it be pushed, especially when weight and size matter much more on bikes. I'm looking forward to the electrically powered future! Wheeeeeeeeesh

My missus says that bike reminds her of me. Fast as fuck but no stamina :D
....nice write up btw :)
And needs a good ten hour charge to perform properly...
you should give one of these a go. The ideal commuting tool that goes from 0-30 in holy shit
Fantastic write up!
