Old Inside Or Just Wise?

  • I wholeheartedly agree with below comments, the cars have no soul. What disgusts me the most about EV's is how they are being seen as 'the holy grail' of saving the planet.

Advertising on television, social media, everywhere you look, of there is a car ad, you're talking 90% change it'll be electric.

First of all are people not realizing that the climate won't be saved if every car owner is to switch to electric. Just looking at the yearly CO2 emission of a SINGLE cruise and/or cargo ship, it surpasses that of all registered petrol/diesel powered cars in the USA (see link: europe.oceana.org/en/shipping-pollution-1).

This included with the narrow-minded view of (primarily left-leaning) western governments and people, results in the idea (and in some places, practice) of ensuring a future where driving electric will become the norm.

I personally, after having my drivers license for a little over 2 years, and owning my own car since a few months, am very scared for this. Not just because of it, in my eyes, being completely to force the use of electric cars down our throats. But primarily because I am having so much fun driving around with my ride. The feeling and sound of the engine, the character behind it. The mechanical feel of it. No useless quirks to it, no tablets, no unnessecary things like lane sensors. It's a car. It is a pinnacle of human engineering. And sincerely hope that fun driving like this will be available to all of us for the rest of my driving life.

  • I agree with you , there's no point in cars being Electric . 90 percent of electricity is being made of fossil fuels anyway, also the pollution that the lithium batteries make from being extracted to them being produced . Teslas are even catching on fire and because of the lithium batteries burning so hot they can't even do something about it . Also there isn't going to be the proper structure for a reasonable amount of cars to be electric in a big city . The US hardly even has the electricity made (from fossil fuels i might add) for those big cities today , imagine what happens when most cars running are electric and need charging everyday . Also there just isn't enough high power chargers in the US to charge them everyday it takes more than an hour for just one car , imagine a loooong row of cars just waiting for one car to get charged so they can wait on the next car for an hour . All of these facts combined with that they just don't have the same nice feeling that internal combustion cars have . Soooo EV's are certainly never going to be popular really.

  • I agree, I have a new Lexus RX450( admittedly it's a hybrid) and a 2007 4.3 litre Lexus SC430, no intention of going to electric but I have done my bit for the environment already as I have come down from a 5 litre SL lol

  • If we really want to continue to have fun cars in the future, all we need to do is switch to cleaner sustainable fuels such as electrofuels and Biomethane. You can vote for them here: www.change.org/p/the-uk-government-exempt-co2-neutral-synthetic-fuel-electrofuel-other-cleaner-fuels-from-2030-petrol-diesel-new-car-sales-ban

  • Yes I totally agree with you, I don't like electric cars. I feel its only fair that we have a choice of petrol diesel or electric. Electric vehicles maybe ok for people who don't care for cars or have any interest in them, its only a form of getting from a to b. Well electric cars have no soul and in my opinion are dangerous do to the fact you can't hear them coming and don't perform well in a accident. Let's hope the government come to there senses and be fair with us and let us have a choice..thank you.
