  • I’m getting my full license now at age 31. Until now, I simply couldn’t afford it.

But I knew I would do it way back, when I first sat on the backseat of my dads 50cc Simson S50 Moped.

And when all my friends drove plastic scooters, I got an old moped, because I wanted a clutch and gears and tank between the legs.

But now I have the great advantage of working at a motorbike dealership/garage. And I can’t wait for my first real bike 🏍.

  • Agree on most parts except the age. I didnt start riding until 4 years ago. I always knew I liked looking at bikes, and as a photographers liked shooting bikes but i never had my finances together enough to actually buy one. Now im almost 30 and i cant imagine getting to work any other way. I can only imagine how much better it is in a country that allows lane splitting.

  • Don't be such a snob. Taking up motorcycling in middle age is better than golfing or hob-nobbing at the yacht club. Hearty welcome to all bikers of any age on any machine. Better to ride a bike than the secretary !

  • I remember falling asleep with a 1974 Kawasaki brochure laying on my chest. I wanted a bike more than air. There was a girl in high school who thought my last name was Kawasaki because I wore a Kawasaki T shirt to school every day, who wears a shirt with their name on it? Anyway, raced motocross for years and it is without question the best training ground for pavement. That served me well while tracking my Ducati motorcycles years later. It sounds odd, but today I'm glad my son isn't going to ride. Today people are driving around sending text messages and doing everything but paying attention. I don't ride anymore, but I have a bunch of worn down knee sliders.
