10 Cars That Really Need A Replacement

10. Doge Viper

The 8.4 litre V10 beast got it's latest version 2 years ago (ACR) and the standard one came out over 5 years ago! The real shame is that the Viper is an iconic car and nothing else gives a feel like that raw, proper V10 engine but sadly it's flying under radar. This why a new really is needed.

9. BMW M3

The new 3 series is here and to be honest it looks brand new and fresh but I think it's going to be hard to make the new M3 stand out and look different. I hope BMW find a way to do it because the current one is a bit behind in the super saloon world. These days the approximate output should be around 500bhp like the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV and Mercedes C63 AMG.

8. Porsche 918

The whole 2014/15 hyper car holy trinity needs a refresh. These amazing cars impression is still lasting (especially if like me you're watching the Grand Tour Season 1 for 100,000th time). Soon though this legacy and impression will become less special and therefore all 3 cars will need to be replaced so the magic and can live on.

7. McLaren P1

6. Ferrari LaFerrari

5. McLaren 675LT

2017 - The new 720s comes out. 2018 - The new 720s Spider comes out. Hopefully this means that 2019 - The new 780LT comes out. This will be the most extreme car for the current McLaren chassis before they need to rework it for an 800s or even 820s. The 720s is amazing and every time I see one I never think "Gosh, this thing needs more power and is heavy so it wallows around", well those two areas are where the 780LT will exceed it's supreme brother.

4. Ferrari F12 TDF

Ferrari's over powered, lightweight TDF quite simply needs to become an 812 TDF for those who are brave, very very brave.

3. Jaguar F-Type

Jaguar's first sports car since the 1961 E-Type is a masterpiece but is slowly loosing it's flare to newer rivals. The F-Type is fantastic but it sort of lives in the back of your mind as a car that you think "yeah, it's pretty and good to drive, move on". However every time you really think about you remember how good it truly is.

2. Ford Focus RS

The hot hatch king sadly is no longer available due to the new normal Focus being released. Ford need to be a bit more like Porsche in sense that when Porsche release a new car e.g. the new 911 they don't kill off all the variants (e.g. GT3, GT2 RS, Turbo S etc) of the old version until they are individually replaced.

1. Aston Martin V12 Vantage

As I said in the Top 10 Supercars Of 2018 post at first I was disappointed at the new Vantage because it was so good but it had an AMG engine. I hope that when they do make a V12 Vantage out of that thing (which sadly will be a very very long time) they use the DBS's 715bhp V12. Ok, that's a bit overkill maybe the DB11's V12 will be a better bet.

  • Nobody will be replacing any of these soon. Ford has already announced that with the exception of the new Mustang and a fleet sales driven hybrid, they are no longer going to be in the car manufacturing business, focusing instead on larger vehicles and electric power. I expect most other manufacturers will do the same. In any case manufacturers in general are focusing on electric technology going forward, not updating existing models.
