The Acura NSX made its debut just over 28 years ago, and its arrival changed the way the world viewed super sports cars with a new dimension of quality, exceptional ergonomics, and never-before-seen performance. The introduction of the NSX marked a new era for Acura by showcasing its Precision Crafted Performance philosophy with truly amazing design and technologies.

Here are 10 facts you may not have known about the Acura NSX supercar.

1.- The name of Acura NSX obeys the acronym New Sportscar eXperimental.

2.- The final adjustments to the original NSX from the 1990s were made by the experienced Brazilian pilot Ayrton Senna da Silva.

3.- The exterior design of the 2017 Acura NSX is the work of a woman, designer Michelle Christensen, who described the new Acura NSX as an "American muscle car in an exotic Italian suit."

4.- The first generation of the NSX was inspired by a concept prototype called the HP-X Honda Pininfarina eXperimental.

5.- The NSX was the first mass-production car to feature an all-aluminum chassis.

6.- It takes nearly 100 specially trained and skilled engineers in construction, painting, assembly and quality to build a 2020 Acura NSX and ensure it meets the highest standards. The New 2020 Acura NSX is assembled at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville Ohio, which was designed to innovate production methods in limited-production cars like the NSX.

7.- During 1991, just over 3,150 units were sold in the United States alone.

8.- In September 2011, during the filming of the movie The Avengers, actor Robert Downey Jr., in the role of Iron Man, drove a super sports car based on the NSX that was specially manufactured for said film.

9.- The first production 2017 Acura NSX was auctioned by Barrett Jackson on January 29, 2016. The final award price of $ 1.2 million set an auction record for a vehicle designated with the VIN 001. All proceeds from the auction were donated to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in America.

10.- Acura won the “Time Attack 2” division of the famed Pikes Peak race with a 2017 NSX.
