1,000 Dodge Chargers are stolen in Michigan every year

Someone must put a stop to this!

American muscle cars are in high demand throughout the world due to their crazy power stats and good prices. This is probably why one police department reported that more than 1,000 Charger thefts have been investigated in Southeast Michigan in the last year alone.

Marlene Radzik, Saline Deputy Police Chief spoke to the Saline Post after another two Dodge Charger Scat Pack models were stolen from a dealership in the area on February 2nd.

According to the IIHS’s Highway Loss Data Institute, the Charger and the Challenger Hellcat were America’s two most stolen cars between 2016 and 2018. They also said theft claims for those cars came in more than five times more frequently than the national average.

This comes as no surprise as keyless entry cars are being stolen more than ever. In fact, in 2019 a British consumer group reported that it takes little more than some cheap electronics equipment to steal a car in a matter of seconds, making it far too easy for these car thieves.

We don't know whether it's easier to break into Dodge Challengers and Chargers or whether they're just popular, but either way this must stop.

  • Bhp per $ being pretty high makes them an easy target. To add to this cheap security systems don’t help.

  • Popular plus hacked keys. It's a professional ring taking these. Might be going overseas or might be getting parted out. Can't have them here - you'll get caught. Good crime car. Pump and dump.
