1000bhp Supra Engine uses 3D Printed intake manifold
We've heard how 3D printing is coming, but it's likely already here.
A lot of exciting things are happening in the tuning world: Making gobs of power thought insane a decade ago, the new Supra, and 3D printing. It seems just about anyone can slap some turbos on an LS and make 1000 bhp. The new Supra was the hottest thing at SEMA this year. Companies have been making a lot of 3D components for cars recently, mainly focusing on components like suspension bits.
Well the folks at Papadakis racing decided to combine these things to keep pushing the envelope in tuning. These guys have a mad Corolla Hatchback that's been attacking the Formula Drift series. It's also got 1000hp, so these guys are well versed in dealing with this sort of power.
In their video, they describe the process of getting a special-designed air intake manifold 3D printed by Mimo Technik, since they didn't have time to get it done through the traditional casting method.
It's pretty impressive stuff, and definitely a showcase for future tuner shops.
Oh yeah, and a video you've probably already seen, but they succesfully made over 1000hp on the Dyno with this engine.
