What a season 2018 has been.
There are plenty of reasons to rate this year as one of the best in F1 history. Drama, controversy, unexpected stories both on and off-track, and two of the greatest drivers of a generation duelling it out to become a five times world champion.
Before looking ahead to 2019, we've got to take a look back at some of the highlights from the year. Here are the top 13 memorable moments from F1 2018:
LASTNAME VS LASTNAME
Who can forget Lastname vs Lastname? The fierce rivalry, which we never knew we wanted. Liberty certainly stepped it up a notch this year with their on screen experience, but this gaff from Melbourne was too funny not to include.
RICCIARDO'S OVERTAKE SHOW
Daniel Ricciardo's win in Monaco was arguably more impressive, but his fightback in China to take the victory was vintage Ricky Bobby. After some quick thinking on the Red Bull pit wall, Ricciardo used his fresh tyres to pull off some spectacular overtakes.
F1'S NEW THEME TUNE
The greatest addition to 2018? Quite possibly. HYPE
ALONSO ON TWO WHEELS IN BAKU
I'm really unsure as to how Fernando Alonso managed to make it back to the pits in Baku. This memorable scene was rewarded by a gutsy drive by The Fonz, hauling his damaged McLaren into a points position which it didn't deserve to be in.
VETTEL BINNING IT
This was a championship defining moment. Vettel led the championship going into his home race, but left it with a deficit to Hamilton after slipping off the road. His title challenge never recovered from there.
This is peak F1 2018.
THE BULLS LOCKING HORNS
Having battled hard all race in Baku, Ricciardo and Verstappen ended their races in the boonies after they collied heading into turn 1. Did this sew the seed of Ricciardo's shock move to Renault? Who knows.
"ERICSSON HIT US"
So many memes. So little time.
HAMILTON'S STUNNING SINGAPORE GP POLE LAP
This lap summed up why Hamilton was champion in 2018. Even at a circuit where his Mercedes car wasn't necessarily the fastest, he pulled something special out of the bag when he needed to. Massive lap.
THE HALO'S VINDICATION
Another first corner crash for Alonso at Spa, but, more importantly, the heavily criticised Halo device proved its worth by protecting Charles Leclerc from a flying McLaren wheel.
The Finnish commentators definitely enjoyed Kimi's victory in Austin. And so did everyone else. A popular win for a popular Finn.
VERSTAPPEN VS OCON
Has there been a more controversial moment in 2018? Hard to think of one. This Verstappen/Ocon incident certainly sparked some debate among the F1 community.
THE THREE CHAMPIONS
The three drivers who have dominated and defined F1 since 2005, celebrated the end of 2018 (and Alonso's F1 career) in style. No matter your opinion, there's no denying that this was a truly poignant moment.
