I'm fascinated by the early coachbuilt Alfa's, every one seems to have it's own unique style without losing it's Alfa identity. This looks nothing like other Alfa 6c's I've seen and yet somehow I instantly knew what it was.....then I found an information card with more details...

The Aero Spider is a unique, experimental car constructed with help from Vittorio Jano, Alfa's legendary chief designer. The hope was that it would evolve into a machine able to challenge the German dominance of GP racing by using his experimental V12 engine.

It was built by brothers Gino and Oscar Jankovits who, like Jano, were of Hungarian descent and were Alfa Romeo concessionaires in Fiume, Italy. The body was designed after consultation with aerodynamicists Josef Micki and Paul Jaray. It pre-dates other streamlined bodies of this type and also exhibits many other advanced features such as wishbone suspension.

Alastair Caldwell's Alfa 6c is a regular sight on the European classic rally circuit; here he is on the Saalfelden test track during our Paris - Vienna Rally.

  • If it wasn't for the 1937 alfa romeo 6c 2300 aerodinamica then mid engined race cars and super cars and hyper cars wouldn't exist, therefore in my opinion it is one of the most important cars ever made.
