1955 Ford Customline

Photographed at Coffee & Chrome Morphettville, South Australia in November 2018

Chevrolet get lots of kudos for their 55, 56 and 57 Bel Airs, but Ford were busy in those years too.

These big Customlines had a whole lot lot of presence and charisma, and still have a very strong fan base - for good reason.

Available in 2 and 4-door versions of sedan, a 2 coupe, and 2 and 4-door station wagons, in 1955 you could choose from a 223 ci 6-cylinder or the famed 272 V8.

471, 922 Customlines were produced in 1955.

Interestingly (for Aussies!) the Customline was also built in Australia from 1952 to 1959. The bodies were built in Australia, using imported chassis kits and front sheet metal. The 272 Flat-heads were partially built in Australia also, with locally sourced components.
