    Porsche built 1,744 911 S for the 1970 model year. In the U.S. the base price of the 911 S started at $8,750. In 1970 this was Porsches highest-performance sports car.

    The 911 S was powered by an 80 hp, 2,195 cc SOHC air-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. Coupled with the five-speed manual transmission it was also capable of accelerating to 60 mph (100kmh) from a standstill in just over seven seconds. Its top speed of 144 mph (225 kmh). Not many cars of its day were capable of matching its breathtaking performance
