1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 surfaces after 10-year hibernation
This wasn't a barn find, rather it was kept in the house, hibernating next to a radiator…
Independent Porsche specialist Autofarm has acquired a Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 that hasn’t been seen in public for a decade. The Touring-specification car was part of a French collection that also included other iconic 911s, like a 3.0 RS and a GT2, with the whole lot up for grabs after the widow of the original owner passed away. The collection had lain idle for ten years…
It took 11 months to negotiate the sale of the 2.7 RS, but unfortunately Autofarm had to let a few others slip through the net. 'We couldn’t agree pricing on all the cars but we were delighted to secure this RS that actually did the Tour Auto and Rallye des 10,000 Virages in Corsica around twenty years ago,' said Autofarm co-owner Mikey Wastie. 'We suspect that as it was fitted with a cage and other track upgrades, it may have a more extensive competition history. We are now researching this.'
The RS in question is in pretty good shape, having been kept next to a radiator in part of the owner's house. As you do. Autofarm initially wanted to fettle it up and drive it back to the UK, but in the end they were sensible and it came across on a trailer. Following a full inspection it now has an MOT, and it's the eighth RS 2.7 that Autofarm has bought or sold in 2016.
Up next? Up to you, if you have the cash. Values are now so high that many Carrera RS 2.7s don't get out much, but as the sale also included a horde of original parts and spares, we'd like you to buy and use it properly, ideally on track…

What a car...
I love that a used Focus with aftermarket wheels will have been 'thrashed' but a used 911 RS with unexplained internal scaffolding 'may have a more extensive competition history'.
Oh. Something just happened. Excuse me for a moment.
