1993 Toyota Supra Vs New Toyota Supra - Specs

Lets look at the facts

1y ago

Now we could take under consideration that the original 2JZ engine is one of the best engines ever made, or that the new Supra's modern sleek design is a far better looking car. But to keep this fair, I will only be comparing the specifications and then you can decide which one is the better version.

Engine: New Supra - 3.0L Turbo I6 , 1993 Supra - 3.0L Twin Turbo I6

Horsepower: New Supra - 335HP , 1993 Supra - 320HP

Torque: New Supra - 365 Lb-Ft , 1993 Supra - 315 Lb-Ft

0-60mph: New Supra - 4.1 Seconds , 1993 Supra - 4.6 Seconds

Transmission: New Supra - 8 Speed Auto , 1993 Supra 6 Speed Manual or 4 Speed Auto

Weight: New Supra - 3397 Lbs , 1993 Supra 3415/3485(Auto) Lbs

While the new Supra is more powerful, it's only by 15 ponies. The new Supra has a noticeable extra 50 pound-feet of torque and has a quick-shifting 8 speed automatic gearbox, this means that the new model hits 60 mph a half second quicker than the old model. However, keeping in mind that these cars are built 26 Years apart, the specs are surprisingly similar. This just shows what an amazing car Toyota made in 1993.

But we all know people don't but a 1993 Toyota Supra to keep it standard, the beauty of the engine was that it was "bulletproof", this meant that people could create insane power even with its stock internals.

  • The new Supra is barely faster than the old one, plus the new one is not as great looking as the old one and will not respond to mods as well as a 2jz

  • I much prefer the A90 over the A80. The 2JZ-GTE was a heavy iron block that has no real advantages anymore. The A80 is still a great car, no doubt, but hype culture has given it way more credit than it was ever designed to have.

  • I'll play Devil's Advocate & say I like the new supra over the Overweight MKIV supra.

The supra wasn't originally a high speed cruiser, just look at the first generations & compare them to the 86, the celica... Be glad Toyota kept it into a Sportscar & not a unaffordable supercar.

  • I have seen a new Supra yesterday and I must say that I was a little bit disappointed with the size of the car. Compared to the old Supra... The new one is only a bit bigger than the Mazda MX5.
