2000 Ferrari 360 Modena F1
This mid-engined, rear wheel drive V8 powered coupe replaced Ferrari's F355 and was produced between 1999 and 2005.
This vehicle had a new all aluminum space-frame chassis that was stronger than the previous F355's steel chassis. The new lightweight design meant it tipped the scales at 3,291 pounds. The 3.6 liter V8 engine sported titanium connecting rods and produced 395 bhp (294 kW).
The base price in 2000 was $138,225. Today, they are bringing $42,500 - $113,000. Owning one is still an expensive proposition. Fuel economy is rated at 10 mpg city, 15 mpg highway or 11 mpg combined. Maintenance is also expensive. The article below has some good things to look for if you go shopping for one.
Here are some photos that I have taken of one at the Richmond Cars & Coffee.
So, how does it's performance compare to my 2016 Chevrolet SS? Seventeen years old, and they still cost more than what I paid last year for my SS new.

Wow, those stats are pretty crazy. Never would have thought to compare these two. great post, Kemp! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I've always liked Ferraris. I almost bought a 1967 330 GT 2+2 for $7,000 at a used car lot in Richmond in 1972. I see passing it up was a mistake now because they are bringing $200,000 - $400,000. When I was checking the specs for the 360 I noticed...
Read moreIt does show that technology just keeps moving. Making me wonder about comparing the SS to the 1967 stats 😮.
That would have been a beautiful car to have now!
