2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black could set a new auction record

$320,000 with 4 days to go

Anything that could be remotely considered a classic is selling for crazy cash these days and this 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 Black Series is no exception. It’s currently available from Bring a Trailer, and bidding is already up to $320,000 with 4 days to go.

The limited-edition SL 65 Black (only 350 units ever built) was launched in 2009, just a few months after the CLK 63 Black Series that Clarkson once owned.

This particular example is finished in Iridium Silver with Black Series-specific accents such as the carbon fiber bodywork with a carbon fiber roof and 19-/20-inch wheels, and it is fitted with AMG sports seats. It comes with a clean Oregon title and it’s only done 11,000 miles.

The hand-assembled 6.0 L V12 is in excellent working condition and equipped with Black Series-specific twin-turbochargers, for a power output of 661 hp and a whopping 738 lb-ft of torque.

I’d personally take the CLK Black over the SL Black, but this is a good catch. If you have the cash and if the price doesn’t break the psychological half-a-mill barrier. Which it probably will.

  • Wow, that is something. I would love to have one of these. It's so pretty. I wonder if there's a body kit for the normal AMGs.
