2018 Mustang Performance Pack Gets a Second Option For An Even Grippier Ride
Ever since I bought my S550 Mustang back when they launched in 2015, I have been pretty pleased with my purchase. I opted for the Performance Pack option, and anything I felt needed additional work, I just did myself. For the most part, I have not regretted my purchase one bit.
The familiar twinge of jealously has reared its ugly head, however. Ford has announced a second Performance Pack available for the 2018 model Mustang; the GT Performance Pack Level 2.
The standard Performance Pack which my car has was a major steal for the price; it includes 6 piston Brembo brakes, unique tuning, a k-brace, a larger radiator, a Torsen rear differential with 3.73 gearing, 19 inch black wheels, oil pressure and vacuum gauges, heavier duty springs, a strut tower brace, and a number of other features. All that ran an additional $2,495 for my model year ($3,995 for 2018 models).
The Performance Pack 2 aims to bridge the gap between the GT and the brilliant GT350. In addition to all the PP options, PP2 owners will also get MagneRide suspension, upgraded sway bars and springs, a new front splitter, rear spoiler, and four Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 305/30R19 tires all around.
Ford has not announced pricing on the GT Performance Pack Level 2 yet; however, expect it to be somewhere around the neighborhood of the Camaro's 1LE upgrade, which is a $7,000 upgrade.
