The Volkswagen Polo is a small 5 Door family hatchback that is full of new tech! It's comes in a 2.0 GTI version, a 1.0 TSI, 1.6Diesel all the way upto a GTI+, unfortunately they've stopped producing the 3 door polo's so all models are only available in a 5 door. Lets take a look into the VW Polo and see what the world's journalist think to it!

Here are the best video reviews of the VW Polo, including a summary of the pros and cons from each one.

Video 1

Mat Watson is really impressed with this new VW Polo and all of it's new High tech inside the cabin, the amount of space that is inside but, the car wasn't exciting to drive and it lacked a bit of power but I suppose that is what the Polo GTI is for!

Interior

The Polo has a smart, upmarket cabin and feels impressively well built for such a small car. Unfortunately, plenty of desirable features aren’t standard but that's where the money is made right?

Driving

The Polo’s a breeze to drive around town and reasonably quiet on the motorway but you couldn’t call it exciting and its entry-level petrol engines are sluggish.

Practicality

The latest Polo is much more spacious inside than the old model. It’s so spacious in fact that it runs the larger VW Golf very close in terms of outright roominess. The VW Polo’s one of the best small family cars for carrying three abreast.

Tech

The Polo is full of impressive Tech, one of the most impressive Tech is the Active Info Display – a second screen behind the steering wheel that displays a range of features from your fuel range, to sat-nav directions. It really helps set the Polo apart from other less tech-laden superminis.

Autocar's chief tester Matt Saunders enjoyed the VW Polo GTI for what it was, although it still lacked that tiny bit of excitement which makes a Hot Hatch but that doesn't mean it is a bad Hot Hatch.

Interior

Like the Non GTI Model the interior is plenty full of Tech with that Active Info Display tucked behind the steering wheel to replace the normal boring Tachometers and it if fully customisable to your needs. In the centre of the dashboard there is the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s bright, colourful and easy to read as you’re driving along.

Driving

The new Polo GTI gets the Golf GTI’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine; it’s slightly detuned to 197bhp and 236lb ft of torque but still strong enough to give the car a sub-7.0sec 0-62mph acceleration claim and top speed within a whisker of 150mph, they are available in a 6 speed DSG Gearbox aswell as the 6 speed manual, but we all know which one is the better of the two.

Practicality

All Polos come with five doors as standard so you won’t have to jump out to let your friends climb in the back and it’s a breeze to fit a child seat using the standard Isofix anchor points. The VW Polo’s large front door pockets have no trouble holding a large and a small bottle each and the glovebox is reasonably roomy, too. The cupholders beside the handbrake are fair if not particularly generous and there’s a sliver of extra storage under the centre console for your phone.

Tech

As mentioned above there is the Active info Display, the 6.5inch touchscreen infotainment system which has apple car play and the equivalent for android phones which allows apps such as maps, spotify and you phones music app to be displayed onto the screen and controllable through the screen/steering wheel controls, the only downside is there is no knobs for volume control it, it is all touch sensitive which means you get greasy finger prints all over the screen!

Carbuyer.com says "Spacious, handsome and good to drive, with sophisticated equipment and options, the Volkswagen Polo impresses"

Interior

Taking the lead from the SEAT Ibiza means the new Polo’s interior is a far more lively place than before, however: the large central dashboard panel is available in 13 different colours, adding a welcome sense of brightness should this be required.

Driving

The new Polo, we’re pleased to report, has found a sense of playfulness – a difficult-to-put-your-finger-on element of fun – that’s been largely absent before. Its accurate steering doesn’t provide a huge amount of feedback, sure, but ever since manufacturers switched from hydraulic to electric power steering that’s a trend we’re used to seeing.

Practicality

The positive impressions continue when you come to the Polo’s boot, as it’s big. At 351 litres, it’s up 25% from before, but to put that figure in context, the Ford Focus from the class above has a 316-litre boot, while the bigger Golf has just 10% more space than the Polo.

Tech

Trim levels are S, SE, Beats, SEL, R-Line and GTI, and even the entry-level S trim has an impressive list of kit, including an eight-inch touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth and air conditioning. From Spring 2018, access to the Volkswagen Connect app became standard across the up! range. This lets you remotely check your car’s fuel level and when it needs servicing from your smartphone, as well as providing ways to summon assistance.
