The Sensible Choice:
Volvo is known for making safe and efficient vehicles for a very long time. The 2017 S60 continues the tradition with top safety ratings and a very efficient yet quick powertrain. We were able to achieve 37 MPG on the highway, even with AWD. The 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds sweetens the deal. I have always been a fan of this Volvo engine: it’s quiet, even at high RPMs, and feels more than powerful in this configuration. [what configuration] I love to go fast and normally I would opt for the more powerful T6 powertrain. However, it’s really not need and that means something coming from me.
Music To Your Ears & Feet:
The optional Harman Kardon sound system is exceptional. Deep bass, clear vocals, and a wide range of EQ to dial in the perfect sound. While you’re sitting in stop-and-go traffic listening to Vivaldi trying to calm your nerves, just engage the laser guided cruise control with stop-and-go assist and let the S60 take care of the irritation caused by that pesky traffic.
The small multimedia system dates the interior somewhat but I don't have any other complaints. The seats are extremely snug, and the steering wheel is covered in an extremely soft leather with large side bolsters that are comfortable to hold. Natural wood accents compliment the black leather interior nicely. The all-metal door handles are a pleasing high-end touch.
The exterior hasn’t had a major update since 2010! How many cars can you name that still look good after seven years? Not many. They've played with some lighting positions on the exterior and added LEDs but not much else has changed. The time for a redesign draws near, but I'll miss this body type. I love the shape and large windows that make for fantastic visibility.
