The new Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe were recently unveiled. They are complete redesigns, with new platforms and bodies for the vehicles. At that unveil, the Z71-edition Tahoe was shown, with it being a trim level, not a package.
GM unveiled the 2020 Tahoe with a Z71 trim
GM Authority reports that the Suburban will also have the option of a Z71 trim level. This information is from Chevrolet Truck Marketing Director Bob Krates, although Chevrolet has not made an official statement. This vehicle, if it is to be produced, will go on sale for the 2021 model year.
The package will fit the Suburban with better off-road capability and performance. It will have Adaptive Air Ride Suspension, which will allow up to an extra four inches of ground clearance. Four wheel drive will be standard, driving the 20-inch alloy wheels with standard all-terrain tires.
You'll be able to identify a Suburban with this package by its reworked front fascia, which will incorporate a higher approach angle. There will also be a front skid plate and red tow hooks. Black and chrome exterior accents will complete the look.
It will use the 5.3-liter V8 also seen in the Silverado, tuned to produce 355 horsepower. Inside, it'll be the same as the standard Silverado, although you'll be able to control all the off-road features.
