2021 Ram 1500 TRX goes from 0-60 in just 3.7 seconds
This is probably one of the biggest performance surprises of the year. According to the manufacturer, the 702-hp 2021 Ram 1500 TRX accelerates from a stop to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and does the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds. That's plenty quick from a pickup that weighs almost three-and-a-half tons, and blasts its most direct rival, the 450-hp Ford F-150 Raptor, straight out of the water.
However, when Car And Driver tested it, it was a whole different story. In their hands, the truck blasted to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and went through the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 110 mph. To put that into context, the 707-hp Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk weighs 1,600 pounds less and is only 0.3 seconds and 0.5 seconds slower to 60 mph and through the quarter mile.
Why the big difference? Maybe it was purposely underrated to lull Ford into a false sense of security before they reveal their rumored V-8-powered F-150 Raptor. It wasn't a Redeye or Demon variant, so someone ought to put this pickup on the dyno ASAP.
