Volkswagen has unveiled the interior of the ID.4 crossover. It will be the first EV to come to the United States based on Volkswagen's MEB EV platform and should be completely unveiled later this month. It should go on sale later this year, under their large electrification plan we've all heard so much about recently. The Volkswagen Group head of design Klaus Zyciora says the ID.4 displays"freedom on the outside, free space on the inside."
Not many features have been officially released, but we can see a long light strip stretched around the entire dashboard, that Volkswagen says will convey messages to the driver. For example, if the car is locked, running, etc. Even though the ID.4's interior is very futuristic and modern, physical buttons are still present, with wiper stalks, a volume knob and steering wheel controls, not everything is controlled via the infotainment system. In addition, the ID.4 has a digital gauge cluster, 30.3 cubic feet of cargo space even with the rear seats up!
Volkswagen says the ID.4 will do 310 miles, taking on the main competitors of the Tesla Model Y, Kia Niro EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric.
The price has not been announced, but VW is taking $100 refundable deposits.
