The beloved Honda Civic is finally getting a redesign, after 5 years of faithful service. And it's coming back with all the bells and whistles enthusiasts love.
A bit of background before we dig into the fun stuff. The images you see are concept-versions of what will become the 11th generation Civic. Honda debuted the 2022 Civic Concept on Twitch, yes Twitch, the streaming platform used by both 10 year old Fortnite streamers and full-time professionals like AR12 Gaming and Shroud.
And while that sounds odd, which it very much is on paper, Honda does have a good reason in doing so. Honda is trying to appeal to its younger buyers. Using Twitch to debut their car creates brand appeal to that exact audience.
This becomes all the much clearer when you take into account that the Civic is designed with a sportier-design base than ever. And this is where the good news comes: the 11th generation of Honda Civic will be available in both Si and Type R trims.
I call that a win, as both enthusiast specced Civic's are coming back on the new generation. And yes, that means the manual is coming back for the 2022 Civic as well. I should mention that the hatchback-version of the Civic will also be available.
The new Civic will be available in late fall of 2022, and you can expect the new Civic to look extremely similar to what you're seeing on your screens now.

This stock civic looks like something I might drive. Will the R, or will I be forced to buy a VW?
Who knows, Hinds might try their hand at putting 5 wings in the rear...
But can I get an Si hatchback? That is my issue with the current one the hatch looks best and is most practical, but no Si treatment.
So you want a type R.
But the Type R is too much power and money. The Si is a great daily, the R is a bit much for everyday use.
It’s expected isn’t it? Honda isn’t going to stop milking their Type R cash cow anytime soon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, it’s surely good news. The Type R only came to America for the last generation after a like hiatus
It’d be good news if Honda makes an effort to avoid the ostentatious styling of the FK2 and FK8 for this new version. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It must have no fake vents and no hood scoop. Hope it comes standard with a manual.
a much better looking car than the present
