The series’ organisers and teams are currently working flat out on the plans for season three of ADAC Formula 4. Six weeks after the 2016 season finale at Hockenheim, the 2017 season calendar has now been unveiled. It includes seven race weekends, with each hosting three races at venues in both Germany and Austria.

Six of the weekends will be in support of the main attraction, the ADAC GT Masters, with both categories racing on the very same weekend as the DTM at the Motorsport Festival Lausitzring, which will be the highlight of the season. In July 2017, Formula 4 will make its return to Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, supporting the TCR International Series on that particular weekend. This also means that there is no second appearance outside of Germany, which has reduced the calendar from eight to seven weekends.

The reason for the missing eigth round can be found in the rule book, saying that a national F4 championship is only allowed to have one race abroad. “The ADAC has asked the FIA for an exception,” explained ADAC F4 press officer Uschi Vogel, in respect of the two races outside of Germany.
