We love superheroes. We also love supercars. When both of them show up in a movie, tickets will soon be sold out. Since superheroes are too cool to drive a Toyota Prius, they usually prefer sharp looking supercars with overwhelming power. Here is a list of 5 best supercars in Marvel movies:
Acura NSX Concept - The Avengers
"The Avengers" was released in 2012 when the second generation Acura NSX was still a concept. Therefore the one in "The Avengers" is slightly different from current production models. Oh and it's a convertible, which is likely to be an one-off concept. There have been rumours about Acura NSX roadster since the coupe version was unveiled at 2015 NAIAS (North American International Auto Show). But it has been three years without any evidence for an open top NSX. Meanwhile, considering the pitiful sales of the second generation NSX, I don't think a roadster version can help. Anyways, the Acura NSX is a hybrid supercar powered by a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine and three electric motors, together packaging 573 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. With the help from a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Honda's SH-AWD all-wheel-drive system, the NSX accelerates from 0-100 km/h in an impressive 3.3 seconds and is able to reach top speed of 307 km/h.
Chevrolet Corvette Stringray (C7) - Captain America: Winter Soldier
Black widow and black Stingray, a man's two dreams merged together in this movie. Since it is called "Captain America", it is not surprised to see an America muscle car showing up. Inside its iconic long nose hiding a 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 engine putting all 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. You can choose from a 7-speed manual or a 8-speed automatic transmission. It does 0-100 km/h in a stunning 4.0 second considering its relatively affordable price. The top speed is 314 km/h. With that level of performance, I can't say which is more charming in this photo.
Audi R8 V10 plus - Captain America: Civil War
Tony Stark really has an obsession of Audi R8. He drove the first generation R8 in Iron Man 1. He drove a R8 Spyder in Iron Man 2. And he even drove a R8 e-tron in Iron Man 3. But this second generation R8 V10 plus is my personal favourite. It is Audi's flagship supercar with a naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine, making 610 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with a 7-speed S-tronic transmission and the famous quattro all-wheel-drive system. It can do 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and is capable of reaching 330 km/h. The best part? It's in solar orange!
Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 - Doctor Strange
Before Stephen Strange becomes a sorcerer, he was a skilled doctor. Without having a family, no wonder he could afford this astonishing Huracan. It shares the same platform and engine as the Audi R8. That means it has the exact same power output as Tony's R8 V10 plus. It features a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which Lamborghini calls it LDF (Lamborghini Doppia Frizione) and a specially tuned all-wheel-drive system. It does null to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches top speed of 340 km/h. I'm wondering how many of you are as heartbroken as me when seeing Strange crashes his poor little calf.
Lexus LC 500 - Black Panther
The most avant-garde design on modern production cars. It is a car from future, like it's made in Wakanda because only futuristic technology can make futuristic cars. However, it is made in Japan, by the manufacturer who made a typical poster car which exists in millions of young boys dream. You can still find characteristics from LFA on the LC 500. Under that aggressive front end sits a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 engine making 471 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. The power travels through a Direct Shift 10-speed automatic transmission to rear wheels. It does 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and is able to reach a top speed of 270 km/h. The performance definitely doesn't deserve the price. But who cares, it's a luxury GT.
I know there are other awesome cars in the movies. Shelby Cobra, Bugatti Veyron Supersport and Tesla Roadster are all very cool and very beautiful. But I have to make choices. So, those are the 5 best supercars in Marvel movies in my opinion. Which one is your pick?
