5 Cars from the US that I wish were sold here!
Please, please, please, bring them across the Atlantic!
I often hear Americans moaning about how they don't get some of the brilliant cars we get over here. Often, European car makers don't both to import hatches, wagons and sports cars over to the US, because they just don't sell very well. But it's not a one way street, and today I'm counting down my picks for the top five cars I wish we got here!
5 - The Lincoln Continental
I rarely like American saloons, and car makers like Buick and Cadillac seem to exist solely to make other cars look better. But come on! This car only came to my attention when all the fuss was made about it being discontinued, and since then I have found myself wanting one very badly. I've searched the classifieds to no avail. It just looks like a cut price Bentley Flying Spur for 5 Series money, and for that reason I really wish they would enter our markets.
4 - The Hyundai Veloster N
Europe is the home of the hot hatch, and yet we get the i30N, but not the Veloster in the UK. To me, it just looks more stylish and slinky than the humdrum i30, but apparently it doesn't fit our stringent regulations. A real loss (although the last one did make it across the Atlantic and was horrifically ugly and slow and generally bad in every way). I can see why they weren't going to try again.
3 - The Dodge Challenger
In the UK, showing off is very much frowned upon. Driving a yellow Lamborghini, people will absolutely hate you. And for that reason, I would never buy a Dodge Challenger. But people buy the showy Ford Mustang, and they'd buy this too! Therefore I'd like to see a few on our streets to brighten them up a bit. Just don't order it in yellow.
2 - The Ford Flex
Ok, so it's not the enthusiasts choice, but when Brit school run mums have to drive either a Vauxhall Zafira, a VW Touran or a Discovery Sport (depending on your varying wealth), it's nice to have a fourth option. After all, I'd like to see a Vauxhall Zafira do 0-60 in 6 seconds! It's not bad looking either, kinda like a cut-price Rangie!
1 - The Kia Telluride
I've kept 'trucks' and 'pickups' out of this, because they have no place in civilised society (even you Americans must admit it would be stupid driving a pickup in New York?), but the Kia Telluride is a large car I would like to see! While the Germans are fumbling around with aesthetics (I'm looking at you X7), Kia has smashed this out the park. I just don't get the name - Tell-ur-ride? Tell your ride what?
Which would you most like to see? Is it on this list, or a different car entirely? Vote in the poll and comment below! As ever, thanks for reading and i hope you enjoyed the article!
