5 of the ugliest cars from 2018

With 2018 rapidly coming to a close I think it's time to have a look back at what this year gave us. Many, many epic cars graced our screens but alas, not all were like that so here's a short list of what I'd class as some of the ugliest cars of the year.

McLaren Senna

I'm going start with the Senna and I know I'm gonna get loads of hate for this but I don't care, do you know why? It's ugly as hell. Okay, maybe that's slightly harsh but I think the term 'function over form' applies here. I have no doubt that it's an incredible car that has serious capabilities on track but it deserves a place on this list.

Mercedes CLS

When the CLS first came out the looks were a bit marmite with opinions being split on whether it looks good or not but the latest model has certainly swayed me into the ugly side. I'm not sure on what Mercedes were doing when they finalised the designs on this one but I'm not a fan.

Hyundai Kona

Hyundai haven't really been on my radar until the i30N was released not long ago which is one of the most popular hot hatches on the market right now. Unfortunately that's where my love for the brand ends, especially when I see the Kona. It's one of the 'super city minis' that have entirely too many aesthetics going on with little cabin space and a measly engine which ticks every box of what I don't like.

Ssangyong Rexton

How can we have an ugly list without Ssangyong making an appearance? The latest version of the Rexton would make Stevie Wonder feel queasy and although it's one of their better looking models, it still makes this list. The Rexton still has odd proportions and is filled with cheap plastics which doesn't scream beautiful.

Rolls-Royce Phantom

Rolls-Royce are the definition of high society with comfort and luxury unrivaled by any other mainstream car maker but their latest model is far from good looking. I'll be honest and say that the front of the car isn't too bad but moving towards the back things start going down hill with that awkward looking rear. Add some, er, interesting two-tone colour combinations like a fair few already do and it will land a place on this list.

Obviously these are all subjective to my opinion and some won't agree, but in my opinion these are some of the less beautiful cars that have came out this year. If you've got any suggestions to add, please feel free to let me know!
