Please keep in mind, this list is entirely my own opinions. These are just 5 cars that come to mind when I think of an ugly rear end. Hell, if enough of you guys comment more hideous car bumpers, maybe I'll make another list. But without further ado, here's what I got:
The 2015 Honda Civic Type R
I'll admit I'm not a fan of the look of this whole car, but the back especially. It's shaped weirdly, the design language reminds me of the word 'loco', and the lines everywhere are going in all sorts of directions. This bumper is just all kinds of wrong, and I don't understand why they didn't base this Type R off of the sedan version of the Civic. Personally, (and I don't know about you guys) but I think that would've looked far better.
The 2001 Ford Ka
Sorry people, but I had to. It looks like a bubble from some angles, and the grey plastic to go with the black plastic isn't a great look.
The 2003 Porsche Cayenne
I'll give Porsche a little break here, this was the first generation of the Cayenne. However, those tail lights coupled with the very tired, rounded edges just makes the back of this car look sooooo dreary and ugly.
The 2003 VW Beetle
The shape is weird, the lights are 2 different colors that really shouldn't be one circle, and the lines are all over the place.
The 2003 BMW X5
If that isn't just the saddest looking rear I've ever seen, then I don't know what is. Who gets to work for BMW, but is so unhappy, they wake up in the morning and think, "right, time to go make everyone that drives behind our customers throw up."
Keep in mind, I don't hate any of these cars. Some of them have nice front bumpers, or ar really good machines, but to follow them around on a daily basis would drive me, and I'm sure some of you, completely insane. And I left out a few cars that some of you might be thinking were obvious choices, like the 2018 Civic Type R, or the New Land Rover Discovery with it's misplaced license plate. But I wanted to look past the ones that The Grand Tour made fun of, so this is what I came up with. Sorry to anyone reading this who had anything to do with the design of any of these cars.
