5 Reasons why the Bentley Bentayga is the only luxury SUV you need

I have seen lots of people who hate luxury performance SUVs here on Drivetribe. However, let me tell you one thing. The Bentayga is one of the best performance SUVs currently on sale. Let me tell you 5 reasons why the Bentayga is the only SUV you will need.

1. It will make you stand out from the crowd

When the Bentayga first came out, people hated the car. They said it was another ‘monster’ created just for profit. For young people, coupes might be their best option. But as you start a family and have kids, a coupe will never be enough. Still, they argue they can have a secondhand sports coupe and an ordinary SUV at the same time, but why miss the opportunity to stand out from the crowd? Driving an Audi Q7 to work or taking an MX-5 to a car meet will never make you stand out from the crowd. However, a luxury performance SUV like the Bentayga will definitely catch people’s attention. Furthermore, forget about the Cayenne. I have never seen a non-car enthusiast differentiate a Cayenne from a Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. But in a Bentayga with shining chrome grilles and circular headlights that indicate it is a ‘Bentley’ from miles away, even an old lady walking down the street will get the impression it is no ordinary SUV. Some people do not like standing out in the crowd, but let’s be honest. Everyone has a small part in their mind that wants to show off, and that itself is already a valid reason.

2. It drives like a sledgehammer thrown by Hercules

Yeah, I do admit that the Bentayga is heavy. That is why I call it a sledgehammer instead of a dagger. However, do not underestimate the power of the Bentayga. The Bentley Bentayga has three powertrains, a W12, V8, and a hybrid. Among them, the twin-turbocharged W12 engine in the Bentayga Speed produces a whopping 626hp and 900 pound-feet of torque. Even in the basic W12 Bentayga, you get a eye-popping 600hp. Although the car weighs 3.2 tonnes, you never get the feeling that the car’s weight is dragging it behind. The Bentayga Speed was the fastest SUV until the Urus came out, and still it can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 3.9 seconds. For those who say a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds is slow, let me remind you that the 992 Carrera takes 4.2 seconds to do the same thing.

Then, how does it perform off-road? Although the 22-inch rims do not really look suitable for off-roading, the car itself is capable of doing great things due to its intelligent technology. The Bentayga has a wading depth of 500mm and a ground clearance of 245mm, which makes it able to sail through the obstacles in its way. Furthermore, the Bentayga is equipped with Bentley Dynamic Ride which gives the driver a selection of 8 modes(4 on-road, 4 off-road) allowing it to adapt in different terrains from the Sahara sand to the Arctic snow. Also, the Bentayga’s 48V active roll control system is 3 times faster than a traditional hydraulic setup, enabling the car to move swiftly around the terrain.

3. It has the most luxurious interior on the market

The Bentayga is one of the most luxurious cars on sale. You are literally sitting on a dead cow as almost every area your hand can reach is finished in leather or wool which have 15 standard colours, and 5 colour splits available. If you fancy a bit more craftsmanship, you can always add the stitching options. Furthermore, you have 9 choices of standard high-quality veneer ranging from Burr Walnut to Carbon Fibre, and you can apply it onto your center fascia and even rear picnic seats too! Well if you still feel unsatisfied, go talk to the Mulliner department where they are willing to do anything for you from marquetry on your wood veneer to bespoke coloured seats.

Oh, did I mention that you can have a hundred and fifty thousand dollar Breitling Tourbillon on my center facia? It is not just an ordinary Breitling(well the word 'ordinary' and 'Breitling' do not stick together though), but a tourbillon that is specially designed just for the Bentayga. Although the clock itself does nothing really different with a G-Shock, but the technology inside it, which makes it surprisingly accurate, is worth the price tag. Take that Cullinan.

4. It takes you up to new heights

There are lot of ‘good’ cars on the market. However, you do not see a car that can bring you up to a new level often. Bentayga carries enough craftsmanship and detail that is enough to enlighten your experience in the car, especially in the Mulliner trim. Although briefly mentioned before, Mulliner is Bentayga’s bespoke department, and their works are truly breathtaking. Although there are a lot to introduce, the best is definitely the exclusive versions for various Bentayga owners. As Bentayga is still an SUV, it mainly targeted people who have a dynamic lifestyle. Therefore, Mulliner offers a bespoke program to bring the client’s passion together through a personalized Bentley. It is not just a normal limited edition with bespoke paint and plaques, it is a proper client-oriented car.

For example, there is the Falconry Edition Bentayga, which targets rich Middle East clients as Falconry is a noble sport in the region. The Falconry Edition Bentayga is not only fitted with bespoke cork cases that carry falconry equipment, but also features a leather sitting stool for the falcon on the centre console armrest too! Another example might be the Fly Fishing Edition. It is not just a Bentayga with some fishing gear. The rods are stored in a special tube on a parcel shelf, while the other equipment are organized in a burr walnut box. Furthermore, Bentley made sure that the car would stay pristine by adding a waterproof boot floor, rear sill protection covers, and an electric dehumidifier too. All of the equipment was carefully organized and selected to ensure the owner’s satisfaction. Bentley shows the definition of bespoke through their Bentayga model, and it is the details in the car that make people want it.

5. It is a proper Bentley

Some of you must be wondering, “Is this even a compliment?” Well, yes it is. Let me ask you, “Why do you buy a Bentley?” If you want a chauffeur-driven luxury vehicle, you have Rolls Royce. If you want a four-seater that can go fast as a supercar on a track, you have Porsche and AMG. A Bentley is for the gentleman drivers who can catch two birds at one shot, luxury, and fun. Being a ‘Bentley Boy’ means that you are not a fat, boring, and an old man who wants to be driven around nor a hotheaded rookie that lacks elegance. Therefore, in the eyes of Bentley Boys, the Bentayga is a well built car, that can be both comfortable and sporty at the same time. Owning a Bentley is unlike owning a normal luxury vehicle. Owning a Bentley means you are owning a combination of state-of-the-art technology and British craftsmanship.

At the end of the day...

I had always been an avid fan of Bentley because of their 'effortlessness'. It is actually painful to look at cars that seem to be shouting "Please look at me! I have 800 horsepower!" with all those cracks and bangs. However, although the Bentayga hides 626 British stallions underneath its bonnet, it stays elegant and calm. Nevertheless, if you press your right foot down, it turns into a continent crusher. I always compare a Bentley to a gentleman who is well educated and refined during the day, but a man who can turn passionate during the night. A Bentley sits right between Italian playboys and German professors, and the Bentayga is an excellent example of it.
