7 coolest Abarths of all time

Abarth is almost 70 years old, so we take a look back at their best

There are few car logos that get my heart pumping like the Abarth logo. I do get a bit of ridicule for having some on my Fiat Panda 100HP which has nothing to do with Abarth, however that was the previous owner, I just don't have the time to take them off… honest.

We are approaching 70 years since Carlo Abarth started the company, so I thought it was appropriate to celebrate the best Abarth has to offer. Their designs can be unconventional, but that is what I love most about them. I've picked my personal favourite seven coolest Abarths, but let me know what makes your list in the comments.

7) Abarth 2000 SE 027

Wearing the famous yellow and red Abarth colours, the 2000 SE 027 has all the beautiful features of the best prototype race cars. It also looks like a race car bed that I was never allowed, so this is also a sly dig at my parents.

6) Abarth 695 Rivale

Now, I'm not the world's biggest modern Fiat 500 fan, but my god does the Abarth 695 Rivale look cool. I'm not sure any car in history hasn't been improved with a bit of two-tone and this is no exception.

5) Fiat Punto Evo Supersport Abarth

Apologies for the poor photography, but as any followers of my Instagram will know, I am a bit crap at it. However, when I spot an absolute gem, it doesn't stop me. Right next to my flat was this Punto dripping with cool. The Punto Supersport Evo looks the absolute business and it is quite the rarity.

4) Fiat Abarth 131

Is there a sexiest sight than an Air Italia liveried 131 flying around some gravel roads? The answer is no.

3) Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato "Dubble Bubble" Coupé

'Dubble bubble' and double trouble, the 750 Zagato is just so pretty. Unfortunately, in the UK, you'd have to place a number plate on the front and completely ruin the aesthetic. That's why we can't have nice things.

2) Fiat–Abarth Monomille Scorpione

I'm just going to let this photograph sit here. Just a little 1,000-cc engine is all that's needed when you look this damned good.

1) Fiat Abarth 1000TC Berlina Corsa

Was there ever going to be anything else at number one? The 1000TC has so much junk in its trunk, it needs an open hatch. This little racer for the road wouldn't struggle topping any cool list.

    • They put the same engine in a big wang widebody 131 next to create the SE031. The whole late 70s SE series is pretty damn cool. It eventually lead to the Rally 037 of course.

  • 695 should be higher.

  • When I think of Abarth I think of scrappy (it hasn’t got much but it will constantly give everything)

  • Completely agree but just move that 131 to the front then you have the perfect list

  • I always think of the 124 Spyder en the 695 biposto record edition
