Last weekend, Rome hosted one of its main automotive events, the 2019 edition of Motodays. DriveTriber Andrea Ventura and I visited the exhibition complex “Fiera di Roma”, a temple for car & bike enthusiasts. Here are seven reasons you should join us in visiting Motodays next year:
Obviously, I couldn't lose the occasion to spend a day surrounded by all those magnificent so, Sunday morning I met up with Andrea Ventura, fellow Drivetriber to attend this event! We met up at the train station, and after a short trip, we arrived at the location, where we joined the variegate crowd of visitors.
1- You can have an overall look at the best companies in the sector
Waiting for us there was six pavilions, four dedicated to Motorcycles, with stands from the best brands on the market.
The other two, we left as the cherry on top of the day, were dedicated to classic cars.
2- Special editions and contest
Honda was indeed the star of the exhibition, with massive displaying space and a treat for the visitors, the possibility to win a Honda CB1000R Tribute, a celebration model made in occasion of the fiftieth birthday of the legendary Honda 750 four.
3- New and old perfectly mixed together
The four pavilions offered a 360 degrees experience, capable to give goosebumps to every kind of fans. From the stars of off-road and motocross, KTM and Husqvarna to the classic icons of style like Triumph and Harley Davidson, there was a variety of brands capable to please any taste, with a wink to nostalgic from Moto Guzzi, Indian and Moto Morini.
4 - Not only motorcycles
Bicycles and electric scooters played a part in the event, along with custom motorcycles, aerography contests and the unavoidable parade of stands selling leather jackets and bike gears. Unexpectedly a few hair stylists were working at Harley Davidson stand, which displayed also a super cool table football.
5 - Interviews and special guests
Guest stars like Superbike Champion Tony Cairoli and Hubert Auriol, the legend of The Dakar, also made an appearance in the conference area for some interviews.
6 - It's a classic lovers heaven
The area dedicated to Classic cars quoting Andrea was “Like to be in heaven” and I couldn't agree more. Old little Fiats were displayed along Mercedes-Benz and Porsches. Among the many classic cars exposed, a few stunning Lancia and Alfa Romeo were themselves enough to send any petrolhead into a “crisis”
7 - 360 degrees fun!
In this kind of occasions, I really wish to have the gift of ubiquity. The number of stands and appointment was enough to make your head spin. Through the day, many subjects were faced, from safety to Tourism. I would try to be more informative in the next days.
In conclusion, it's been an amazing event, topped by the good company of Andrea and his knowledge, and by my first encounter with some old American muscle, so rare to spot in my country.
I’m looking forward to the next edition!
Now excuse me but I have to go through the hundreds of photos I took across the day, stay tuned for more to come!
