7 things that excite us about the upcoming Grand Tour special: Carnage A Trois
Who will be watching the new Grand Tour special on December 17th?
The Grand Tour released the trailer for the next special today and it's filled the motoring community with joy because we all have our three favourite presenters back on our screens. What we noticed straight away when watching the trailer is how much it reminds us of the 'golden days' of Top Gear with the arrival of explosions and silliness – it's just what we need this Christmas.
So with that in mind, here are seven things that excite us about the upcoming Grand Tour Special, Carnage A Trois.
1. It features quirky French cars
This might seem like an obvious one, but here on DriveTribe, we love a quirky French automobile. There's just something so special about something a little bit odd and a little bit crap. That said, the Citroen SM Clarkson and Hammond are seen driving most certainly doesn't fall into that category. In fact, that very car went up for sale recently, with the previous owner being Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers.
Other French cars that can be seen in the trailer include a Citroen 2CV, a Helica propellor car, a Renault Scenic, Peugeot 407, Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot 205 GTi, a 306 GTI-6, plus a Renault Clio 182 and Megane R26. This is a wild array of vehicles and we're sure others will appear too.
2. Hammond has a crash
It was to be expected, but Richard Hammond does indeed crash a car. This time, he didn't have to be cut out of the car but he did smash up two other cars in the process when trying to park his red Renault Scenic...
3. Jeremy falls out of a car
Again, not something uncommon in a Grand Tour special, but still worth mentioning. Jeremy seemingly jumps out of a car in the trailer. It doesn't look like it ended all that well but then again when does jumping out of a moving vehicle ever look graceful?
4. Richard upsets a local
In one scene towards the end of the trailer, we can see a very angry, shouty local having a go at Hammond for driving the 'French way' around a roundabout. This is probably a valid reason to get angry and James certainly thought Richard was being beaten up during this incident.
5. One of them gets rear-ended
Now before you start commenting crude innuendos, we mean Jeremy drove into the back of Richard's car 'to help him along' when he was stuck in a ditch. This wouldn't be the first time Clarkson has done something like this but at least this time it wasn't on the edge of a cliff.
6. There's an exciting challenge and some drifting
Alongside reviewing cars, the trio can also be seen facing a challenge in a Peugeot 407, a Renault Scenic and a Citroen Berlingo. It looks like it might be a race to see who can drive to the top of a small mountain and we're all about that.
Another thing that we noticed was some French cars drifting on a dirt track. If there's a TV segment with drifting, we're all eyes and ears – especially if it's a race involving the three presenters and a pro.
7. Finally, there's laughs, bumps, explosions, fails, and jokes
It wouldn't be a true Grand Tour episode if there weren't some laughs, bumps, explosions, fails and jokes. In this trailer, we see lots of jokes at the expense of the French (sorry guys but it is funny), a 2CV incident and a failed explosion.
These are all things we can't wait to see when the new special arrives on Amazon Prime on December 17th.
