A 1955 LANCIA AURELIA B24S SPIDER AMERICA CAN BE YOURS!
I love classic cars. The 300SL and its beautiful Gullwings, but I have a soft spot for Italian classics. The sound , the gorgeous lines and that red colour. And I found this Lancia Aurelia B24S for sale on Bring a Trailer!
This 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 is one of just 240 Spider models built during a single year of production. The car (chassis 1070) is a left-hand-drive example that was completed on June 14, 1955 and delivered new in Turin, Italy. An American air force officer purchased the vehicle in 1965 in Italy, before exporting it to Washington, DC and moving it later that decade to Los Angeles, California. After being offered for sale in San Diego in 1979, the car was acquired in 1980 by none other than, Lancia heir Manfredi Luigi Lancia, who returned it to Italy and kept it as part of his personal collection for 35 years.
A refurbishment was carried out early in Sig. Lancia’s ownership included a color change to the current combination of dark red over tobacco leather. A Lancia D50 Formula One steering wheel from the family collection was also installed at that time.
The B24 Spider variant of the Aurelia was introduced at the 1955 Brussels Motor Show and was only produced for a single year before being superseded by the B24 Convertible. The Spider shared its mechanical underpinnings with the fourth-series Aurelia GT coupe, but featured distinct Pinin Farina-designed bodywork over a shortened chassis. It was available in left or right drive, and 181 were built in S (Sinistra – left drive) configuration like this example. So it really is quite rare!
AND THE AURELIA IS THE FIRST CAR POWERED BY A V6
This 2.4 Litre 60° V6 is the first of its kind!
With 10 days left on the bidding clock, the starting bid of the Aurelia is $400, 000. And since this is a bidding site, I can imagine that the Aurelia shall sell for around $600, 000. Since I do not have a Bring a Trailer account, please inform me about the prices in the comments below ( if you have an account) .
