A 240Hp/760Kg VW Caddy attacking Shelsley Walsh
Retro Rides Gathering 2017 saw the this unique Drag Racing Caddy make its Hillclimbing debut
Chris Priddle is the owner, creater and driver of this quite unique Volkswagen Caddy unit. Result of a long 4 year process, this quirky Monster is now rated as the fastest Front Wheel Drive, Naturally Aspirated Caddy in UK Drag Racing. And on Retro Rides Gathering 2017 it also showed some proper Hillclimb Racing credentials...
With 234Hp/8.000Rpm from a highly modified 3a Block taken from an Audi 80 and around 760Kg of weight, it was always bound to be quick. Such power is achieved thanks to a conversion of said engine into a 16 valve configuration (original block has 8 valves only) while being also fully forged and making use of such goodies as Wossner high compression pistons and Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies. Such low weight is mostly achieved by some extensive stripping and tubular framing the whole rear end.
In the end, this unit embodies another aspect we love in Hillclimb Racing which is the variety of cars competing on it and the freedom introduced by some Rulebooks, allowing such quirky creations to find a place where to be properly driven right to its limits.

Isn't it the same uphill route where TG tested 3 hot hatches of the past?

Bc that's the way it came
No way that's 240bhp. I've seen a caddy with around 260 and it's alot faster than this one.
