Now, I'm a pretty tall guy (6' 2") with very long legs (35" inside leg). As a result, I find most cars very difficult to fit in. This is something that 7' 2" 342 lb bodybuilder Oliver Richters (aka The Dutch Giant) feels a lot too and it's made it an absolute pain for him to get a car that's absolutely right for him. He's been looking for his dream car after driving a Toyota Aygo (which, surprisingly, he can fit in!) for 4 years and he decided to go and look at some cars that are a bit more sporty. In the course of the video he tries sitting in a Ford Mustang GT, a Cadillac CTS-V, a C7 Chevrolet Corvette, the two current Polestar models and a Maserati Ghibli. Only one of these cars was actually comfortable enough for him to go and take a test drive in and it's one you probably wouldn't expect!

  • It really is a crap shoot for what will be roomy. I’m 6’6’’ with 36” inseam and I fit great in a mini and golf but not in a focus. My suburban is very roomy but other full size trucks like Ram 1500/2500 and especially super duty’s are tighter than small cars. I have a RX7 that I took the seat right out of and I fit great in now lol. Most important dimensions for tall people is going to be with the seat all the way down and back seat bottom to roof and bottom of seat back to petals. The more leg room the less you legs have to try to occupy the same space as the dashboard and steering wheel. SUVs and trucks are more upright but their footwells don’t extend as far under the dashboard in a lot of cars. Roomiest I’ve driven is a 2012 Dodge Challenger where I could actually not automatically put the seat all the way back to start. I’d recommend for what he is looking to spend a hellcat Challenger. Not as sharp as a Corvette, Mustang or CTS-V but fast.

  • Aw I feel bad haha I couldn't imagine finally being able to get whatever car I wanted, but then not fitting! This is probably why so many larger athletes by Rolls Royce and Bentley.

    • From what I hear from a lot of bigger guys, SUVs are generally the most comfortable.

  • Disadvantage of modern cars. I remember with old cars, 50s and 60s, you could reverse the seat runners giving a fair bit more space. I'm tiny compared to 'The Dutch Giant' but my legs are disproportionately long so have problems with quite a few cars. When I put the seat far back enough for my legs, because of the way most seats are made, I end up being too low to see well enough over the bonnet.
